I should blog, I bet y'all miss me.  But I'm tired.  And feel gross, and unmotivated.  But that's ok, those are good things right now.

I should have pictures of Baby R V1.2 on Thursday.  Of course he or she (I really think he) will just look like a gummy bear, but that's
cool.

So to entertain you in the interim, here is a pic of my first gummy bear, Isaac...taken last weekend when it was all summery outside, b/c even though its nice and chilly now it will remind you of what's coming!  And for the record, that is chocolate ice cream on his face....and yes, I do bathe him occassionally.

Soapbox

So..if any of you are on my facebook you are aware of my recent soapbox I'm on.

Here it is in a nutshell...expectant mothers who are high risk, usually who have experienced a loss or pre-term birth are typically prescribed a weekly injection of progesterone.  This drug has been used and compounded at pharmacies for YEARS, usually costing mother around $11.  Recently a company "claimed" the drug and submitted to the FDA to have sole rights for production.  It was granted.  Overnight cease and desist letters were sent to all compounding pharmacies and they were threatened with fines.  The kicker...the cost went up...to $1500 dollars per shot.  No folks, not a typo...and these are WEEKLY shots.

There are a couple Senators who are calling for an FTC investigation into this.  I want to urge everyone to contact their Senator requesting that they join in this call for a federal investigation.

Here is a link on how to find your Senator.

If it helps here is a sample letter than you can work with.

I am writing you today to respectfully request that you join with Senator Brown of Ohio in calling for an FTC investigation into the price gouging by KV Pharmaceuticals on their drug Makena.
Prior to this FDA approval of the drug, progesterone injections were available from compounding pharmacies for roughly $11 per injection, now the cost has skyrocketed to $1500 per injection.  Even with the assistance program many women will fall through the cracks and many babies will needlessly suffer by being born too soon.  This doesn't just effect expectant mothers, it will also result in an increase in insurance costs are companies are forced to pay this outrageous price.
(and if you have a personal story, I urge you to share it).

Looking Ahead

Winter is almost over.
Spring is coming.

In my distress I called to the LORD; I cried to my God for help. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came before him, into his ears.

Friends

God works in amazing ways.  Its really cool when you see His plan unfold.

Recently I made a  new friend.  Someone I had known for a while but for some reason we started growing closer, which was rather spontaneous.  We started finding similarities that we never knew.  Funniest thing was when I first "met" this friend, I really didn't care for her much, lol.

Then suddenly something tragic happened to her.  And she needed a friend to lean on for support.  And that friend became me.  I was honored to be chosen as her friend, but felt really outta place, I mean we hadn't known each other long.

But its interesting to see, how God knew all along she would need someone.  She would need me.  Not that I am anything special, no way, I feel rather inadequate as her "support".  But, God started this long before we either one knew WHY she would need me.

I am also going through a struggle, a different struggle from her, but know what?  I need HER.  It wonderful to be able to chat with her, to vent, to complain, to cry, to be hopeful.

Please pray for my friend and for me.
